Dr. Maneesh Bawa is one of the premier spine specialists in Southern California.

Dr. Bawa is Board Certified in orthopaedic surgery and is fellowship-trained in orthopaedic reconstructive spine surgery.

He went to Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where he became a doctor in medicine and then proceeded to complete his orthopedic residency at the University of San Diego (UCSD). He then successfully completed his reconstructive spine surgery fellowship training at Emory University and was an Assistant Professor at Emory University in addition to being the Chief of Spine and Trauma Surgery.

He has an extensive educational background and the most up-to-date medical training in management of spine problems. His clinical interests include orthopedic spine surgery, neck disorders, spinal stenosis, myelopathy, radiculopathy, spinal tumors, spinal trauma, osteoporotic compression fractures, including general orthopedic trauma and fracture care. He also routinely takes care of post-traumatic spine problems related to personal injuries including motor vehicular accidents, assaults and falls. He specializes in the medico-legal evaluation of pain management issues after trauma. He is a well-known medico-legal expert in this arena.

Dr Bawa summarizes his approach to treating patients as follows:

Providing patient care is a blessing and is not a privilege I take for granted. I pride myself on doing all I can to improve the quality of life of my patients in a compassionate, educated, and thorough manner. I believe in a comprehensive approach to patient care, beginning initially with non-operative modalities. The majority of patients improve with physical therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic modalities, traction, and properly selected injections. When these treatments do not succeed, I have strict surgical indications which lead to good clinical outcomes. I treat my patients as if they are part of my family.

Dr.Bawa is a long time local resident of San Diego, proud father of two wonderful children, and is a family man with a talented spouse. Dr Bawa runs his own private practice in San Diego, and also serves as a consultant ‘Spine specialist’ for ‘The Hosalkar Institute.’
