Dr. Ritvik Mehta

Consultant Otolaryngology Surgeon

Dr. Ritvik Mehta is one of the premier Otolaryngology specialists in Southern California and voted as ‘Top-doctor’ by his peers.

He received his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. He then went on to Harvard Medical School where he completed his internship in General Surgery and residency in Otolaryngology / Head and Neck Surgery. While at Harvard, he developed his interest in treating patients with facial paralysis. Recognizing the profound impact that facial paralysis has on the lives of those affected, Dr. Mehta chose to pursue advanced training in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery / Facial Nerve Disorders during his fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary / Harvard Medical School. He then went on to complete a second fellowship in Otology / Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine.

Dr. Mehta is truly a compassionate and caring physician who has a deep interest in providing the best possible care for his patients. He has co-authored numerous publications and was the recipient of the American Neurotology Society Trainee Award for his middle-ear research. Dr. Mehta is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology. He is a professional member in the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and the International Otopathology Society (Schuknecht Society).

His special clinical interests include hearing and balance disorders, implantable hearing devices/cochlear implants, lateral skull base surgery, gamma knife radiosurgery, facial paralysis/facial reanimation surgery, microtia and atresia surgery.

In his Otolaryngology practice, he also routinely takes care of post-traumatic medical problems related to personal injuries including motor vehicular accidents, assaults and falls. In particular, he specializes in the medico-legal evaluation of hearing loss, tinnitus, and dizziness / vertigo after trauma. He is a well-known medico-legal expert in this arena.

Finally, Dr. Mehta is a true humanitarian. He volunteers his personal time to participate in two amazing non-profit organizations developed to afford children with the medical and/or surgical care they require but cannot afford. He is passionate about giving these children a better quality of life.

Dr Mehta runs his own private practice at several locations in San Diego and is the Director of ‘California Head and Neck Specialists’. He serves as a consultant surgeon for ‘The Hosalkar Institute.’
