Sofia Brigida is a DOC Program Pre-Medical Student Intern at Alliance Medical Group and a Biochemistry student at Baylor University, where she is preparing for a future career in medicine. With a strong academic foundation, prior clinical experience, and a passion for lifelong learning, Sofia is committed to developing into a physician who combines scientific excellence with compassionate patient care.

At Baylor University, Sofia is actively involved in leadership and service. She serves on the leadership team for Heartfire, a mission-focused organization dedicated to promoting medical mission opportunities and global service among university students. She is also a member of the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC), where she has held multiple training leadership positions responsible for mentoring and preparing underclassmen cadets for future leadership responsibilities and military training. These experiences have strengthened her leadership, discipline, teamwork, and ability to perform under pressure.

Academically, Sofia is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry while continuing to build her research experience through advanced laboratory coursework. She also brings strong technical skills in Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, Canva, and scientific research methods. Her academic excellence has been recognized through the prestigious Air Force ROTC High School Scholarship Program (HSSP) Type-1 Scholarship, a highly competitive award that provides full tuition and authorized fees at any participating AFROTC university.

Sofia joined the DOC Program Pre-Medical Student Internship at Alliance Medical Group. Its commitment to physician mentorship, multidisciplinary education, and clinical research. She was especially drawn to the opportunity to participate in a complete research project while gaining firsthand exposure to a wide variety of medical specialties. She is eager to learn from physicians across multiple disciplines, observe collaborative patient care in action, and gain a deeper understanding of the diverse paths physicians take throughout their careers.

Outside of academics and healthcare, Sofia enjoys maintaining an active lifestyle through CrossFit, running, hiking, and long walks along Mission Bay and the San Diego boardwalk. She also enjoys reading, drawing, building puzzles, and watching stand-up comedy. A self-described "energetic homebody," she equally appreciates challenging herself physically and relaxing at home with a great movie. In fact, one of her favorite hobbies is researching films after watching them, making her an unofficial expert on actors, movie trivia, and behind-the-scenes Production facts.

Guided by the belief that every challenge is an opportunity to grow, Sofia approaches each experience with curiosity, discipline, and determination.
